Mourning Mouthbrooches
The societal taboo surrounding speaking ill of the dead, effectively gags abuse survivors. Whilst others may openly mourn the loss of a loved one, survivors must process their abuser’s death privately. All too often, when the abused speaks ill of an abuser, they are judged. Worn as outward signals of the inner turmoil survivors endure, the mouth symbolically clamps shut to hold them in place.
